Unit above 45°F right now?

A full built-in holds a serious amount of food. Past four hours above 40°F that load is at risk. The dispatch line is answered 24/7 — call it and we will slot you into the next open run.

01 Work We Do

Four benches, one specialism

Everything we take on is built-in Sub-Zero refrigeration. No ranges, no dishwashers, no laundry — which is why the diagnosis is usually done before the toolbag is open.

Sealed-system, evaporator and control faults on built-in and integrated Sub-Zero refrigerator columns.

  • Fridge side sitting at 50°F while the freezer is still rock hard
  • Compressor never shuts off and the kitchen floor feels warm by the grille
  • Water collecting under the crisper drawers and freezing into a sheet

What breaks, by series

The failure patterns we log most often on Redmond Sub-Zero units. Find your series on the data plate behind the lower grille — it saves a phone call's worth of guessing.

Common Sub-Zero failure patterns by series, as seen on Redmond service calls
Series Configuration Build years Typical failure Usual part
600 Series Side-by-side built-in 1998 – 2014 Fresh-food evaporator fan seizes; fridge climbs while freezer holds Evaporator fan motor
650 / 690 Built-in with ice + water 2000 – 2014 Dispenser line freezes at the door hinge and splits Door water tube kit
700 Series Refrigerator / freezer column 1998 – 2015 Defrost heater open circuit, evaporator packs solid with frost Defrost heater + thermistor
BI-36 / BI-42 Classic built-in 2006 – 2019 Vacuum door seal drags, gasket splits at the lower corner Magnetic door gasket
IC-27 / IT Columns Integrated, panel-ready 2012 – present Control board loses the fresh-food thermistor and defaults to max cool Thermistor harness
UC-15I Undercounter clear-ice maker 2005 – present Hollow, cloudy cubes from a weak fill valve or blocked drain Fill valve / drain pump
DEC / DEU Wine Dual-zone wine storage 2004 – 2016 Upper zone drifts warm when the damper motor stalls Damper assembly

Series not listed? We still carry the common failure items for most built-in Sub-Zero platforms — call with the model and serial and we will say up front whether the part is stocked or ordered.

03 Method

How a call actually runs

Same four stations every time, whether it is a twenty-minute fan swap or a two-visit sealed-system job.

  1. 01

    Log the fault

Model and serial off the plate behind the grille, plus what the unit is actually doing. Half of the diagnosis happens on that call.

  2. 02

    On-site test

Cabinet and evaporator temperatures logged, defrost circuit cycled, sealed system read under gauges. You get a cause, not a theory.

  3. 03

    Quote and approve

A written figure for parts and labour before anything is opened. No approval, no work — the $89 service call stands on its own, and is credited in full against an approved repair.

  4. 04

    Repair and prove it

Unit pulled back to spec and left running while we watch it. Final readings are shown to you before the van leaves.

What Redmond customers said

Cubes came out hollow and cloudy, which two people had blamed on our water. He measured the fill, showed me it was well short, and traced that to a partly blocked drain.

Lorna B.Education Hill

A rattle behind the freezer went quiet whenever the door opened, so I was sure the compressor was finished. It was a cracked fan blade clipping its shroud. Half an hour, silent since.

Roman P.Redmond Ridge

Cubes arrived fused into a single slab every couple of days. The bin thermostat was cutting out late, so the pile never got a rest. Replaced, drain slope adjusted, no talk of a new machine.
