Built for the narrow opening

The 611 went into kitchens where 36 inches could not be spared. Like the rest of the series it keeps its condenser and both compressors behind the top grille, so a repair to the cooling works from above the door and leaves the side panels and the toe-kick alone.

The door cam

Where the side-by-sides have spring closures, the 611’s refrigerator door has a cam that parks the door once it is opened to about 120 degrees and then takes the door the last 15 or so degrees onto its gasket. When the door neither parks nor pulls itself in, the cam or the door’s adjustment is the first thing looked at, before any cooling fault is suspected.

The freezer drawer

The drawer rides on inclined rollers and closes by its own weight. One that stops a finger’s width short leaves the freezer open to the room, and Sub-Zero’s manuals list a door or drawer that is not closing among the first causes of a warm freezer.

Diagnosis on each control

Which control a 611 has depends on its serial number. Before serial 1810000, the display shows temperatures, SERVICE and VACUUM CONDENSER and stores nothing, so the technician works from compartment and evaporator temperatures read in Diagnostic Mode. After it, the control keeps stored EC codes, and those are read first.
