Stuck in Sabbath Mode

Sabbath mode keeps a Sub-Zero cooling with the lights and ice maker off, and on a BI the door alarm and dispenser as well. On a BI, one touch of POWER ends it; on a 600 Series, press and release UNIT ON/OFF. If the key does nothing, call Sub-Zero Repair Redmond on (425) 905-2822.

What it switches off

On a BI the mode disables the interior lights, the ice maker, the door alarm and, where one is fitted, the dispenser. On a 600 Series it turns off the lights and the ice maker. Refrigeration keeps running on both, which is why a unit can sit in the mode for days before anyone asks why the ice bin has stopped filling. Sub-Zero built the feature to Star-K’s requirements.

How it got switched on

Not by accident, as a rule. The unit is switched off at the control so OFF shows, then the same power key is held for ten seconds, and the unit comes back on in Sabbath mode. On a BI the display reads SAb; the 600 Series guide describes no special readout.

When one press does not end it

Press the power key once, deliberately, and give it a moment. If nothing changes, try the other keys. A panel where no key registers points at the membrane switch or the ribbon cable behind it, the same fault that leaves a display ignoring every touch. Testing it means taking that cable off the control board, so it stops there for an owner.
