Lights On, No Cooling: Showroom Mode

How it looks

The panel behaves normally, the lights come on, and nothing gets cold. Sub-Zero’s BI guide describes exactly that picture: 38° and 0° in the display, and a unit that is not cooling. The early 600 service manual lists the same mode among its causes of warm compartments.

On a later 600 Series

Sr turns up among the readings in Diagnostic Mode when the control is set this way. The service manual’s way out is a key sequence at the Control Center: switch the unit to OFF with UNIT ON/OFF, then hold a WARMER and a COLDER key together and press UNIT ON/OFF.

Where it comes from

The mode exists for sales floors, so it is most likely on a unit that spent time on display or in a model home; the early 600 manual even gives those units their own warranty terms.

If it is not the mode

A warm cabinet with a normal display and no Sr is an ordinary cooling fault, and it is diagnosed as one.
