Does EE mean the food is warming up?

EE Where a Temperature Should Be

EE printed where the freezer or refrigerator temperature normally shows means the 600 Series control has lost a usable reading from that compartment's sensor, and SERVICE flashes beside it. The compartment itself may still be cold. Sub-Zero Repair Redmond tests the sensor and its wiring against Sub-Zero's figures; call (425) 905-2822 and say which side shows EE.

Means	The control cannot use the compartment sensor: it reads as disconnected, shorted or misread, so no temperature is displayed for that side.
Check first	Which compartment shows EE, freezer or refrigerator, and whether SERVICE is flashing alongside it. Whether that compartment still feels cold to the hand, so you can tell us on the phone. The unit switched off and on once at the control panel; if EE returns at once, leave it there.
Needs a technician	The wiring from the compartment sensor to the control board, reconnected or repaired where it has parted. The sensor on the later control measured for 30,000 to 33,000 ohms at 32°F, and replaced if it is outside that. On the early control, the sensor checked against 32,500 ohms at 32°F and 10,000 ohms at 77°F.

EE is the control saying it can no longer see one compartment. It is not a measurement that the compartment is warm, which is why Sub-Zero’s manuals file it under warm and normal compartments alike.

Both generations of control

EE means the same before and after serial number 1810000. In Diagnostic Mode on the early control, EE in place of a reading marks that sensor as disconnected or faulty; the later control can also hold stored sensor codes.

After the repair

Once the connection is made good or the sensor replaced, switching the unit off and on at the control panel clears the indicator.
